Congratulations to our ENIGMA undergraduate researchers Martin Sim, Ju Ho Kim, Zouxuan Wu and Jeffrey Gao, who presented at the Arkin Lab’s Spring Poster Session at the Innovative Genomics Institute on Thursday, April 30, 2026.
The undergraduate researchers developed an app to help users navigate and connect over ten years of ENIGMA datasets. The project integrated diverse data types, from geospatial sampling records to microbial community data paired with geochemical measurements, as well as lab-grown community data with documented growth conditions and an isolate repository.
Under the ENIGMA mentorship of Jennifer Kuehl and Shekhar Mishra the undergraduate students help shape the product design and bring the application to life. The team’s work strengthened their understanding of how effective data management and strong team organization contribute to building intuitive, discovery-focused scientific software.
